I joined Girl Scouts in late 2015’s as a daisy, the very first level of a girl scout, in first grade and have done continuously for almost a decade to my current high school years. Throughout all these years we have done camping and horseback riding, badges and higher awards, traveling and advocacy.
I love doing Girl Scouts because it makes us more aware of the world around us, the environment, people and community as we work to improve the way we, as knowledge seekers, interact with and change the planet, society, and the way we think.
With the girls in my troop, we have built a bond of sisters that has continued to influence me as a person, growing into a better educated and built person. We are all currently working on our Gold Award, the highest award a Girl Scout can achieve, that will work to continuously change the world for the better.
For my Gold Award, I am planning to do something with STEM, specifically biology or chemistry, like making a club, using advocacy, messaging my school or school district about getting more science funding or science classes. I am very much looking forward to working on this with my troop.
