I have been a Girl Scout since 2014 and was part of the original five girls of troop 42071. I started when I was in kindergarten, and I am now a sophomore in high school. Being a Girl Scout in this troop has given me fun and interesting opportunities that boost my confidence. Traveling with groups other than family has taught me to be independent, and selling cookies has pushed me out of my comfort zone to talk to customers. I have stayed in Girl Scouts for this long because of the troop community, and my goal to complete my gold award, which is the highest award you can earn as a senior.
My Gold Award ideas
Right now, I haven’t narrowed down what I want to do for my gold award, but I have some ideas of issues I see in my community. One of the issues that I would like to help, is homelessness. For me, a way to help, could be focusing on improving life in tiny house communities, or other resources that are already set up. I also might be interested in doing a project that involves cats. I would check with local cat rescue organization to see what their needs are.
Gold Award research
One of my ideas for my gold award was helping cats, and that would probably be working with a cat organization some way.
- I am going to email local cat rescue organization to ask what their needs are and if they have ideas for what I could do for my gold award.
- I am planning to email:
- Seattle Humane Society
- Alley cat project
- And any other organizations I find
- That will help me narrow down my project and find an organization to work with
